Hello,

     My name is Matthew and I help take care of Ralston Cemetery. I became interested in the Ralston Cemetery by working at the Arvada Historical Society. I had done a couple of research projects and have stumbled on information about the Cemetery. I had never been to the Ralston Cemetery before and when I had found the address, I found out it was only a couple of blocks away from my house. The day after I found the address, I went there with my family and we did some catalouging of the graves and the area by taking photographs and writing down the inscriptions. Since the past year, I have been working on cleaning up the cemetery and weeding it from the cracks of the headstones. Currently, although the City of Arvada states that there is no new vandalism in the cemetery, there is. However, the city has kept it from being completely destroyed, and I thank them for that, but it isn't the highest priority on their list. I have been in contact with the City of Arvada Parks Department and through you who visit, we may save and protect this historic cemetery. Please help me to locate the unknown graves of the cemetery and keep me posted on any vandalism that you may see.  Please contact me at (303) 472-9551.

We are excited to work with Colorado Cemetery Conservation on preserving the gravestones we have at the cemetery. A final date has yet to be set, but we are looking at September for restoration dates.

  • February 4, 2011: Ralston Cemetery has been placed on the Colorado's Most Endangered Places List. This is a great honor and we look forward to working with CPI and restoring the cemetery. I would personally like to thank everybody with CPI, the City of Arvada, and each and every individual that has ever supported the cemetery, I could not have possibility done this without you. I will add more information as time goes on. Also, we are looking to put up a banner from CPI on the property of Ralston Cemetery. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do so without it being stolen or vandalized. Please go to the contact us section for your comments. THANK YOU
 
  • January 4, 2010: Funeral records from J. C. Davidson of Golden, Colorado. Scans of these will available shortly but here is the information.
 
  • March 9, 2010: I have added the Colorado Cemetery Transcriptions pages for Ralston Cemetery at the bottom of the unmarked burials.

     

  • December 21, 2009: The Ralston Cemetery has passed one of its first two tests...the first involving the eligibility of the cemetery, whether it is an historic district or  involving an historic person. It has passed, being that the Cemetery is part of the historic district of Ralston Crossing which no longer exists.
